St. David participates in Skills Ontario Birdhouse Making Workshop

For Catholic Education week, students at St. David’s partnered with Skills Ontario today to create their very own birdhouses on zoom. Students were able to pick up their birdhouse kits at the school and tune in for their lesson on the importance of skilled trades, nurturing hope, and connecting with nature.  Skills Ontario has a focus on creating workshops that build, design, create and fix for Elementary Career Awareness week.  Students are invited to extend their learning and partake in the school-based challenge to decorate their birdhouses in a way that demonstrates pride and their unique identity. Providing students with the opportunity to explore these actions through experiential learning workshops, allows them to discover different career possibilities in the skilled trades and technologies at a very young age.

Financial Literacy is a new section in the grade 1 to 8 math curriculum. This will ensure that they become more self-sufficient and financially stable at a young age, and provides an opportunity for students to develop a good relationship with money so that they may set realistic financial goals for themselves in the future.
