The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is delighted to share our latest blog of the 2023-24 school year, Embracing Faith and Community: Sudbury Catholic Schools Give Generously.

This blog is a celebration of the remarkable stories and experiences that unfolded throughout our community during the past two months. In this edition, you’ll find inspiring accounts of community partnerships, giving and remarkable initiatives with action taken from students, teachers, staff, and parish partners to give back and help others this holiday season.

The Fourth Sunday of Advent

December 24 marks the fourth Sunday of Advent for 2023. Together, we all await the birth of a baby boy, the light of the world, coming to transform us, so that we can transform the world. The month of December is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, celebrated on December 8th. The first 24 days of December fall during the liturgical season of Advent and are represented by the colour purple. During Advent it is fitting that we celebrate the virtue of patience, for we recognize that we are patiently awaiting Jesus’ coming.

Advent Prayer

Dear Lord,

Send down Your Spirit to guide me during Advent this year. May the Holy Spirit help me journey closer to You and lift me up when I feel down and led me when I feel lost. I may stumble at times, but I know my ultimate journey is to draw closer to You and build Your kingdom here on earth–a kingdom that Jesus’s birth, life and death helped secure.

Amen.

The Third Sunday of Advent

December 17 marks the third Sunday of Advent for 2023. Together, we all await the birth of a baby boy, the light of the world, coming to transform us, so that we can transform the world. The month of December is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, celebrated on December 8th. The first 24 days of December fall during the liturgical season of Advent and are represented by the colour purple. During Advent it is fitting that we celebrate the virtue of patience, for we recognize that we are patiently awaiting Jesus’ coming.

Advent Prayer

Dear Lord,

Send down Your Spirit to guide me during Advent this year. May the Holy Spirit help me journey closer to You and lift me up when I feel down and led me when I feel lost. I may stumble at times, but I know my ultimate journey is to draw closer to You and build Your kingdom here on earth–a kingdom that Jesus’s birth, life and death helped secure.

Save the Date: Sudbury Catholic Schools Invite Families for Kindergarten Registration Night on Jan. 25th

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board invites families with children entering Kindergarten in 2024 to participate in the Kindergarten Registration Night event taking place Board wide on Thursday, January 25th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Please Note: If parents are unable to make the Board registration night, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board welcomes families to contact their closest Catholic Elementary School to register and ask questions.

Kindergarten Registration Night

Both English and French Immersion Kindergarten programs are available at Sudbury Catholic Elementary Schools for children turning four on or before December 31, 2024. Parents can register children at the following 12 schools:

By attending this event, parents and guardians will be able to ask questions, meet educators, explore our innovative, inclusive, and modern learning environments, and get all the help they need to register and prepare their child for Kindergarten at Sudbury Catholic Schools!
