remain open, according to reports from Regional Police, OPP and MTO, it appears that road conditions may deteriorate.
School boards therefore ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO PICK UP THEIR CHILDREN AT SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Due to the upcoming ice storm, road conditions and in the interest of safety, all school related transportation services for English catholic, English public, French catholic and French public schools, operating in the districts of SUDBURY, ESPANOLA, MASSEY AND MANITOULIN are cancelled today. All schools will remain open, however, NO transportation will be provided. Parents who transport their children to school are reminded that they must pick their children up at the end of the school day.
The School Boards advise students and parents that secondary school exams taking place today will be rescheduled to tomorrow. Please check your school’s website, or call the school, for revisions to the exam schedule.

St. Charles College is holding its open house on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013.

On Tuesday, December 18, the Board of Trustees for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board held their annual election for the positions of Chair of the Board and Vice Chair at their monthly board meeting. Jody Cameron, formerly the Vice Chair, has moved into the position of Chair, and trustee Michael Bellmore will serve as Vice Chair for the next year. Cameron has served as both Chair and Vice Chair in past years for the Sudbury Catholic board, and is looking forward to this upcoming year at the helm. “I would like to thank all the trustees for their support and I know that our team around the table has great experience and insight.” Cameron stated. “This next year will definitely bring with it some great challenges, however I believe that we will be able to work through these challenges and be stronger for it.” Vice Chair Bellmore, who has also served as Chair and Vice Chair in the past, also thanked his fellow trustees. “I am humbled and honoured to be chosen by my peers this evening to serve as Vice Chair of the Sudbury Catholic District School Board for the next year.”

The largest school canned food drive in the city kicked off on October 15 at St. Charles College in Sudbury. Students at the school have one week to canvas neighbourhoods and collect 60 thousand non-perishable food items for the Sudbury Food Bank.
The drive started twenty-seven years ago. Principal Patty Mardero says, “When the weather gets cooler, the Sudbury Food Bank relies on our helping hand. That time has come and it is time for us to deliver.”
Last year, the school surpassed its goal and collected 120-thousand cans. This was the largest single donation in the history of the Sudbury Food Bank.
Even with the forecast looking dismal this week, students were urged to forge ahead and get out into their neighbourhoods to collect cans.
The high school is also supported by its feeder schools. Each year, students at St. Bernadette, St. Raphael, Pius XII, St. Andrew, St. David and St Paul and St. John take up the cause.
The Student Services Consortium has asked us to share the coming deadline of Friday, August 24 for changes to student busing arrangements. Any changes after this date will not be processed until the third week of September.

The first day of school for all students will be Tuesday, September 4, 2012. This will be a full day of school with regular hours (no early dismissal). Secondary schools are open on Monday, August 20 and elementary schools are open on Monday, August 27 for registration and information purposes. Staff will be on hand to assist with registrations and answer any questions.
