St. Charles College’s Dance Focus class teams up with Spotlight Dance Company

With the tunes always blaring, Mrs. Patricia Demore’s dance class is the place to be this semester.

The twenty-some students registered in the class have been getting in some intense work outs between their cardio pumping dance sessions and those special surprise days when they get in a field trip to a local dance studio.

The troupe has joined forces with Miss Jamie at Spotlight Dance Company for intense toning and conditioning classes.

Mrs. Patricia Demore says “the curriculum focuses on developing leadership, dedication to sport, time management skills all while having fun and making friends for life.”

The class runs all this semester and many of the girls are also a part of the school dance team which recently auditioned for the upcoming Lion’s Club/CTV Christmas Telethon.

Students of St. Benedict and St. James experiment with art and science!

Before launching into secondary school next year, students at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School and St. James had a chance to explore both art and science labs at the high school this week.

In Science, Mr. O’Donnell taught the students how to conduct themselves in a lab while dissecting a frog. The students learned safety and anatomy at the same time while the students created canvassed art with Mr. Timpano in the art room.

Students Mackenzie Richard and Brenna Vienneau weren’t shy about the dissection lab with Brenna taking the first cut. She says she is not afraid because she has cleaned deer and partridge in the past with family.

Vienneau wants to pursue sciences because she wants to become an electrician in the future.

Students from the two schools conducted their rotations over a two day period to better prepare them for life in the high school setting.

Marymount Students Paint Mural to Honour the Sudbury Blue Door Soup Kitchen!

Last week, the Sudbury Blue Door Soup Kitchen celebrated 35 years of “opening doors for people in need”. Marymount Marymount Academy has a long-standing partnership with the Blue Door Soup Kitchen – for the past several years, the Grade 9 students have had the opportunity to volunteer there as a way of putting their Religion curriculum into practice through service to others. This year, for the anniversary, Marymount art students contributed by painting this beautiful mural across their interior wall, making it a focal point for the centre. Congratulations Mykenzie Douglas, Shaleigh Wisniewski & Taylor Lapierre-Grignon for all your hard work!
