Students at St. David Catholic School were very excited to have Constable Lapalme visit the school. The students were welcomed by Constable Lapalme first thing this morning in the school yard, he then assisted with the Breakfast Program and had the opportunity to speak with all students in the classrooms. Ms. Lepage, Gr.2/3 students were very thrilled to sit in the police cruiser, sound the siren and look at the radar and other devices in the vehicle. Police week runs from May 13-19 and is dedicated to increasing community awareness and recognition of policing services and strengthening partnerships between police and the community. ” What a great experience for students to interact with the police in a positive way” says Grade 1/2 teacher, Eleanor Anderson.

St. Raphael School helps rule out Diabetes and Participates in Sudbury Rocks!
On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, students from St. Raphael School participated in the 5K Sudbury Rocks! run/walk for Diabetes. Students trained after school to prepare for the run. Eighteen students and Teacher Ms. Reynolds ran on Sunday. Students were also encouraged to collect pledges for this worthy cause. Over $1340.00 was collected by the Royals to help rule out Diabetes! It was a great way to help the community and to keep fit and stay healthy!
Picnic at St. Andrew
St. Andrew School has traditionally been hosting picnics in the yard/gym during Catholic Education Week for the last five years. On May 9th because of uncooperative weather, the picnics were in the gym. Pictured are Kate, Andrew and Maria Middleton enjoying a lunch together.
Jump Rope for Heart at St. Christopher
St. Christopher students are actively participating with their “Heart Hero” in the Jump Rope for Heart event taking place at the school on May 18th, 2012. Students are learning about keeping their heart healthy and also collecting pledges for a good cause, the “Heart and Stroke Foundation”. The following are some of our jump rope demonstrators from the grade 5 class and our “Heart Hero” Jamila Sargeant who is in grade 6.

Students at St. Andrew School celebrated Catholic Education Week by generously Jumping hoola-hooping, running after frisbee’s and playing soccer to actively participate in Jump Rope for Heart. Pictured is Alex Vendette skipping.
The Living Rosary at St. Christopher
St. Christopher’s students celebrated Catholic Education Week with a number of activities within the school. The staff and student participated in the “Living Rosary” within the gym at St. Christopher’s school. Students represented a prayer within the rosary and led us as we prayed the rosary together. The gym was darkened and lights were lit as each prayer was said. May is the month of Mary and she is Jesus’s mother. Father Jim Hutton, from St. Patrick’s Church, and Father Andre were also participating in our rosary. The are with some of the grade 5 students.
Making Machines at St. Christopher
Recently, St. Christopher’s grade 2 students created simple machines and shared their creations with their classmates, other students in their class and their parents. A mini science fair took place in the school gym.
Read-Alouds at St. David
The Grade 1 class was very excited to have Rossella Bagnato, Sudbury Catholic Superintendent of School Effectiveness come to the school during Catholic Education Week to do a read aloud with the book ‘The Very Cranky Bear’. The students thoroughly enjoyed the story that Mrs. Bagnato had to read the story twice!
St. James SK-FI Students Celebrate Their Love of Music
Students in the SK French Immersion program at St. James Catholic School celebrated their love of music with a Spring Sing-Along. As part of the school’s Catholic Education week, the children performed a number of French songs for their parents and grandparents. Afterwards, they had the chance to share in some refreshments with their families.
