Artwork of St. Albert Student Featured in Emergence Exhibition

St. Albert Learning Centre is thrilled to acknowledge that Kierra Cooper’s “Beauty and the Loneliness” artwork is featured at the Emergence Exhibition held at the Art Gallery of Sudbury.  The event is a tribute to the artistic talent of Sudbury’s young people and is available for public viewing until May 7th.

Kathryn Kurt, PEACE program teacher shares her excitement; “ I am so proud as a teacher that we get to showcase Kierra’s talent! I am consistently seeing her create gorgeous pieces during art class and finally others get to see it as well! She is a beautiful indigenous artist with a bright future!”

Students in the PEACE program visited the art gallery to see the local talent and to celebrate Kierra’s accomplishment. The community at St. Albert Learning Centre would like to congratulate Kierra and encourage her to continue sharing and pursuing her artistic abilities.

Families at Pius XII School Embrace Literacy and STEM

Literacy and STEM night was hit at Pius XII School with many community partners in attendance. Families enjoyed the Let’s Talk Science activities put on by Cambrian College, face painting, scholastic book fair, fishpond, upcycle club, art station and much more! The school planned a memorable night as families focused on the importance of literacy while reading at home as well completed STEM activities and learned about the opportunities they have for careers in the near future!

Three Sudbury Catholic Students Receive Bronze Medals at Skills Ontario 2023 Competitions!

A big congratulations goes out to St. Charles College student Parker Tilbury and Bishop Alexander Carter C.S.S students Blake Rushton and Kaiden Filiatrault who received Bronze medals in the individual carpentry and two person carpentry categories respectively at the 2023 Skills Ontario competition.

A total of 15 students represented the Sudbury Catholic District School Board at the Toronto Congress Centre from May 1 –3, 2023. Contests included Carpentry, TV/Video Production, Graphic Design, Auto Service Technology and Photography.

“Congratulations to all our participating students and especially to our bronze medal winners – Parker Tilbury, Blake Rushton, Kaiden Filiatrault!” says Peter Prochilo, Superintendent of School Effectiveness for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board. “These achievements are a testament to the hours of hard work and determination from our students and their mentors. Our students continue to prove that they are leaders and innovators within their chosen industries, and we are very proud of their efforts. We would like to acknowledge all our teacher mentors for passionately supporting our students as they explore and ultimately pursue careers in the skilled trades. We especially thank teachers Kirk McKee and Chris Kohut for mentoring and coaching our medal winners.”
