St. Raphael Catholic School Hosts Book Drive to Support Aboriginal Communities

St. Raphael Catholic School has been conducting a book drive to support children and teens living in isolated Aboriginal Communities. The idea for the book drive which began on January 15, 2007 came from James Bartleman, Ontario’s Lieutenant-Governor in an attempt to establish libraries with adequate resources and to promote the value of reading in remote areas.

A mass appeal went out to the families and students of St. Raphael Catholic School with an overwhelming response from the community. The St. Raphael Student Council under the direction of Mrs. Barbeau have taken on the job of collecting and packing the books which will be shipped from the school at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 26, 2007.
