About Ray Desjardins
Ray Desjardins was raised in Cobalt, Ontario and married his wife Cathy in 1975. With a B.A. in Geography from Laurentian University and a M.A. (Educational Administration) from Central Michigan University, Ray, who is bilingual, started his teaching career at St. Mary Catholic Elementary School. He continued as Vice-Principal at St. Charles and St. Anne Catholic Elementary Schools, and then was Principal of Our Lady of Fatima, St. Stephen, St. Luke, St. James, St. Theresa and St. Francis Catholic Elementary Schools. Ray has served provincially as a board member, executive member and President of the Catholic Principal Council of Ontario, as well as having served on the national Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Principals. Ray was first elected to the Sudbury Catholic District School Board of Trustees in 2010. Active in the community, Ray has served many years on the Parish Council of St. Alexander Parish as well being an active L'Arche Sudbury volunteer and former board member. In June of 2022 Ray was selected to be the Grand Knight for the St Alexander Council# 11219. Ray enjoys the arts in the community, is a season ticket holder for the Sudbury Wolves, and is into technology and new challenges in his life.
