Financial Literacy Month

November is Financial Literacy Month! At Sudbury Catholic Schools, we encourage students and families to explore how everyday choices can help build financial knowledge and confidence.
From recognizing needs and wants to setting a savings goal, conversations about money can start small. Comparing prices at the grocery store or planning a purchase together offers opportunities to practice financial skills at home. This November, consider starting a conversation about a financial goal your child would like to work toward, and the small steps that could help them get there!

💡 Fun Fact
Did you know financial literacy learning begins in Grade 1 in Ontario?
Throughout their education, students build knowledge to help them understand money, set financial goals and make informed decisions. Starting in the 2026–2027 school year, students who began Grade 9 in the 2025–2026 school year or later, must meet a financial literacy graduation requirement to earn their high school diploma.
Students will complete this requirement as part of their compulsory Grade 10 Career Studies course. The requirement consists of learning modules and test questions developed by TVO and provided to schools to administer. Learn more about how financial literacy is taught in Ontario schools.
