About Our City
As a growing community with a rich history in education, science, and culture, Sudbury is an inspiring city that blends outdoor adventure with urban conveniences.
Sudbury is not only famous for its numerous lakes, mining heritage and the iconic Big Nickel; it’s also the birthplace of the Franco-Ontarian Flag. In 1975, Gaétan Gervais and student Michel Dupuis of the University of Sudbury created the first Franco-Ontarian flag, raising it for the first time on September 25 that same year. Today, the pride in Sudbury’s Francophone heritage is as strong as ever. Come and be part of the amazing opportunity to share the French culture and language with our students and continue to build this strong legacy.
