Rural and Northern Education Funding
As part of its plan to strengthen rural and northern education, the Ministry of Education announced on June 28, 2017 (Memo 2017: B09) a Rural and Northern Education supplement of $20 million as an enhancement to the Grants for Student Needs (GSN). The funding will allow school boards to further improve education for students in rural communities.
Each board must report publicly on how these funds will be used as well as which schools are recipients of RNEF support.
For 2022-2023, Sudbury Catholic District School Board received $162,977.
Funding was distributed as follows:

St. Mark School | $ 45,062 |
These expenses were used to support school operating costs, provide tutoring supports and implement a new robotics program at St. James. The school robotics program and tutoring supports will continue into the next school year.
The balance of funding will be carried forward to the 2023-2024 school year to be used enhanced learning support.
