Rural and Northern Education Funding
As part of its plan to strengthen rural and northern education, the Ministry of Education announced on June 28, 2017 (Memo 2017: B09) a Rural and Northern Education supplement of $20 million as an enhancement to the Grants for Student Needs (GSN). The funding will allow school boards to further improve education for students in rural communities.
Each board must report publicly on how these funds will be used as well as which schools are recipients of RNEF support.
For 2024-2025, Sudbury Catholic District School Board received $196,598 and expended all funds from prior years.
Funding was distributed as follows:

These expenses were used to support school operating costs, provide tutoring supports, purchase Lexia licenses (literacy supports) and continue to support the robotics program at St. James.
