Finance and Budget Process

The Board is committed to utilizing its resources wisely, effectively and equitably.

Each year, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board establishes priorities to reach its goals within the Board’s budget. These priorities are aligned with the Board’s Strategic Priorities and Operational Plan.

Rural and Northern Education Funding

As part of its plan to strengthen rural and northern education, the Ministry of Education announced on June 28, 2017 (Memo 2017: B09) a Rural and Northern Education supplement of $20 million as an enhancement to the Grants for Student Needs (GSN). The funding will allow school boards to further improve education for students in rural communities.

Each board must report publicly on how these funds will be used as well as which schools are recipients of RNEF support.

For 2023-2024, Sudbury Catholic District School Board received $179,774 and expended some of our funds from prior years.

Funding was distributed as follows:

These expenses were used to support school operating costs, provide tutoring supports, and continue to support the robotics program at St. James. The school robotics program and tutoring supports were started last school year.  

Any remaining funds will be carried forward to the 2024-2025 school year to be used enhanced learning support.
