Online Learning at Sudbury Catholic Schools
SCDSB Online Learning aka e-Learning Courses are online classes taught by certified Ontario teachers. Students can complete their work on their own schedule while receiving ongoing support, feedback, and assessment.
How Online Learning Works
- Any accommodations or modifications in a student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) are supported
- Courses are asynchronous – there are no scheduled live classes
- Students can log in and work any time of day
- Lessons, assignments, and resources are posted online
- Teachers provide regular feedback and communicate with students
- Progress is assessed and reported just like in a regular classroom

What “Asynchronous” Means
Online Learning courses are taught asynchronously. Asynchronous learning means students and teachers are not required to be online at the same time. Students are responsible for completing lessons and assignments at their own pace within set deadlines.
What Students Can Expect
Students can expect to…
- Receive regular feedback and progress updates
- Follow weekly lessons and due dates
- Communicate with their teacher through the online platform
