Indigenous Education Curriculum

We provide every student with meaningful opportunities to learn about Indigenous peoples and participate in learning centered around Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Together with Elders and a range of community partners, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board’s Indigenous Education team is continuously dedicated to implementing culturally relevant educational programming that will honour Indigenous ancestry, history and contemporary perspectives in the classroom and support the academic success of each and every child.

Seven Grandfather Teachings

At Sudbury Catholic Schools, we strive to walk the path of the Seven Grandfather Teachings. The teachings represent the traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Anishinaabe way of life. Each teaching honours one of the basic virtues intrinsic to living a life in balance and harmony with nature, family and community (adapted from The Mishomis Book: Voice of the Ojibway by Edward Benton-Banai).
