Mental Health and Well-Being at Sudbury Catholic Schools
At Sudbury Catholic Schools, we are committed to building a community that nurtures a healthy mind, body, and spirit. This includes supporting the mental health and well-being of our students. It is estimated that 1 in 5 students in Canada experience a mental health challenge that impacts their daily functioning, including academic success. Schools provide an optimal setting where positive mental health can be promoted, mental health concerns can be identified, and pathways to support can be established.

The 2024-2027 SCDSB Mental Health and Addictions Strategy focuses on enhancing student well-being and success. Over the next four years, we will address seven key priorities to build a community that supports each student’s potential within our inclusive Catholic learning environment by nurturing and developing their mind, body, and spirit.
Where can I get help?
A child can experience mental illness while still maintaining mental well-being. This means that even with a mental health diagnosis, a child can thrive! Many mental health challenges can be long-term or may resurface over time, which is why early intervention and ongoing support are essential.
There are many people within the school system who can help. If you have concerns, reach out to a teacher, school counselor, mental health advisor, principal, or another trusted staff member—they’re here to support you!
