St. Andrew Catholic School Presents ‘Reading With the Stars’

On Friday, May 4, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., several local “stars” will share a favourite book with the students of St. Andrew Catholic School to celebrate Catholic Education Week. Star readers will feature Bishop Jean-Louis Plouffe, Mayor John Rodriquez, Mrs. Rossella Bagnato, Interim Director of Education for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, Mrs. Paula Peroni, Chair of the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, Mrs. Jean McHarg, Academic Superintendent for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, Mr. Anthony Chezzi, Faith Animator for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board and former Principal of St. Andrew Catholic School,Mrs. Zandra Zubac, Representative from the Ministry of Education, Secretariat and Mr. Gerry Lougheed Jr. recent recipient of the Community Builder Award for Excellence.

“Reading is a very important skill,” states School Prinicipal, Melody Henry. “By exposing our students to many different readers it is our hope that this very special reading day will encourage them to practise their own reading skills.”

The theme for the reading day is “Created in the Image of God.” Students and staff will celebrate their appreciation for family, friends, their community, their country, and for citizens around the world as they listen to the “stars” share favourite books.”
