Sold-out event welcomes 144 golfers and raises more than $30,000 to support local students

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board (SCDSB) is celebrating the incredible success of its inaugural Staff & Family Charity Golf Tournament, bringing together staff, families, community partners, and local businesses for a day dedicated to supporting learning opportunities for students.

Held on Saturday, June 13 at Timberwolf Golf Club, the sold-out tournament welcomed 36 teams and 144 golfers, raising more than $30,000.00 to help enhance athletics, extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and student experiences across Sudbury Catholic Schools.

Participants enjoyed 18 holes of golf, on-course contests, hole-in-one challenges, lunch and dinner, a silent auction, live entertainment, and dozens of prizes generously donated by local businesses. The event was made possible through the support of an incredible team of volunteers and community partners who helped create an unforgettable day both on and off the course.

Overall, the day reflected what makes the Sudbury Catholic community so special, people coming together with a shared commitment to supporting students in Catholic Education. While the 2026 tournament marked the beginning of what is sure to become a valued annual tradition, its greatest success lies in the opportunities it will create for students in the years ahead. Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, donors, and community partners, funds raised through the event will help support the establishment of the SCDSB Student Charity Foundation, a new initiative designed to remove barriers and expand opportunities for students across Sudbury Catholic Schools.

Once launched, the Foundation will allow staff and families to apply for funding to support student experiences that inspire leadership, foster belonging, and enrich learning both inside and outside the classroom. From athletics and extracurricular activities to educational experiences and student well-being initiatives, the Foundation will help ensure more students have access to opportunities that support their growth and success.

“While the Foundation is still in its development phase, we are making significant progress and look forward to officially launching it during the 2026-2027 school year, providing students with new opportunities to access funding and support,” added Hucal.
