Summer Co-Operative Education Program

🗓️ Timeline:

  • Mandatory Online Pre-Placement: May 25 – June 26, 2026
  • Placement Date: June 29 – July 30, 2026

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board’s Summer Co-operative Education Program offers secondary students the opportunity to earn up to two credits during the summer through a structured workplace experience.

Students enrolled in the summer program must secure their own placement, often through their existing summer employment. If your enrollment in the summer program is confirmed, students are not permitted to register for additional summer school programs (all SCDSB students are limited to one summer school program).

The Summer Co-operative Education Program may be a good fit if you are currently in Grades 10, 11 or 12, and:

  • Need one or two credits to graduate by the end of the summer
  • Are looking to get back on track with your graduation timeline
  • Are enrolled in a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) and are unable to fit co-op into your regular timetable
  • Are interested in exploring the skilled trades through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)

Dates: May 25th to June 26th

Students are to attend a mandatory online Summer Co-op program orientation session on Monday, May 25th, from 6:00PM to 8:30PM. A Google Meet link will be provided to students in advance by their assigned co-op instructor. During this session, course expectations for both online classroom and community placement components will be outlined. Students are to confirm their placements on the application form prior to the meeting. Co-op teachers may request individual meetings during the pre-placement to confirm student placements and provide guidance on assignments.

Students are required to finish all pre-placement expectations and submit their signed work education agreements on or before Friday, June 26th.

Placement Dates: June 29th to July 30th

Students must meet all course expectations to be granted one or two credits. Daily log sheets, employer/supervisor feedback and a final culminating assignment are part of these expectations.

Please note that students will have to work a minimum of 35 hours per week (7 hours a day) for five weeks to achieve two credits.

For more information, please contact your school’s guidance counsellor.
