SUMMER E‐LEARNING TEACHERS – SECONDARY


Teachers are required for the following courses:
Senior – Religion (HRT 3M)

DESCRIPTION

Under the guidance of the Summer School Principal, the e‐Learning Summer School Teacher will carry out the Board’s e‐learning strategy by using integrated technology to provide both differentiated and direct instruction. The teacher will provide on‐line instruction and be available to students online for a minimum of 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday. He or she is responsible for the preparation of class material and assignments, marking, and parental contact.

Teachers who are assigned to teach grades 10 e‐learning courses are required to have a face to face class with students on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at St. Benedict Catholic
Secondary School.

Teachers will facilitate face to face Orientation Workshops on July 3, 2018 at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Teachers may apply for more than one posting, as classes may be cancelled due to enrollment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

→ Bachelor of Education and a member in goodstanding of the Ontario College of Teachers
→ Intermediate/Senior Basic Qualifica􀦞ons
→ Qualification with respect to specialized subjects will be required as per Ministry regulations and Article 11.02 7(b)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

→ Prior experience as an e‐Learning Teacher
→ Prior experience using the vLE (Virtual Learning Environment)

 

REQUIREMENTS

→ Strong knowledge of e‐learning and the pedagogy related to online learning

→ Strong knowledge of teaching in subject areas
→ Broad knowledge of child development and teaching methods
→ Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English
→ Ability to communicate and relate with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
→ Excellent organizational skills
→ Self‐starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
→ Ability to a􀂂end work on a regular basis
→ Demonstrated proficiency with the vLE, Adobe Connect, email, Macbook and PC platforms.

The following assignment is effective July 3, 2017 to August 8, 2018:

 

DESCRIPTION

Under the guidance of the Principal of Summer School, the Summer Co‐operative Education Teacher will assist the students in earning two (2) secondary school cooperative education credits while completing a work placement in the community. He or she will be responsible for:

‐ evaluating placements for each student
‐ informing employers of role and responsibilities
‐ prepare, deliver, and evaluate activities during pre‐placement, placement and postplacement
through e‐Learning module
‐ facilitate Health and Safety on‐line training
‐ educate students on steps to follow in case of injury on placement
‐ develop, organize and submit to Board all documentation required under the Co‐op

Program, including WEA – Work Agreements, PPLP – Personal Placement Learning Plans, Evaluation Logs, mark pre‐employment assignments, integration assignments and
culminating activities, provide students with timely and regular placement feedback as per the Ministry of Education Policy and Procedure document.

The Summer Co‐operative Education Teacher will facilitate face to face Orientation
Workshops on July 3, 2018 at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School from 9:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m.

Final integration debrief will occur on August 8, 2018 at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary
School from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

→ Bachelor of Educa􀦞on and a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers
→ Intermediate/Senior Basic Qualifica􀦞ons
→ Additional Qualification: Co‐operative Education Part 1 (minimum)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

→ Co‐operative Education Part 2
→ Prior experience teaching summer co‐op
→ Prior experience using the vLE (Virtual Learning Environment)

 

REQUIREMENTS

→ Basic knowledge of OYAP Program and the SHSM Program
→ Strong knowledge of teaching in subject area(s)
→ Understanding of broad range of teaching methods
→ Use of MTEL system for completing Personalized Placement Learning Plan (PPLP)
→ Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English
→ Ability to communicate and relate with people tac􀁿ully, diploma􀦞cally, and professionally at all times
→ Excellent organiza􀦞onal skills
→ Self‐starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
→ Ability to a􀂂end work on a regular basis
→ Ability to enter student information into database
→ Access to a reliable vehicle (required for monitoring student placements)
→ Working knowledge of Co‐operative Education and other forms of experiential learning, policies, and procedures from the Ontario Secondary Schools document
