Sudbury Catholic Enhances Social Media Presence with Launch of Facebook Page

February 15, 2011 - As a follow up to the launch of Board’s Social Media initiative, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board is extremely excited to announce that it has launched the Sudbury Catholic Facebook Page.

As with the Board’s other social media initiatives, Facebook will be used to celebrate new programming initiatives, school events, upcoming events as well as a means to disseminate any urgent or otherwise important information out to parents, guardians, students and other stakeholders.

“Recognizing that Facebook has over 500 million users and is now used by 1 in every 13 people on earth, we feel that this is an exciting announcement and are encouraged by the interest already by staff, parents, students and community alike.” stated Barry MacDonald, Chair of the Board. “We know that is certainly not a replacement of the one on one conversation of which we encourage first and foremost, however, we feel that this is one more opportunity for us to celebrate our unique programming, school and Board successes, as well as informing the community of any important information that has happened or is upcoming.”

Catherine McCullough, Director of Education for the Board echoed MacDonald’s sentiments regarding the Sudbury Catholic Facebook page launch. “The statistics with Facebook are staggering,” McCullough stated. “Its use is growing so rapidly, we knew that this was an exceptional opportunity for us to enhance our Board’s communication to the system. Along with Twitter, and our Sudbury Catholic Youtube account, our new Facebook page will provide us with one more venue to incorporate social media as a means to connect with the Sudbury community and speaks to our strong commitment to 21st century learning at Sudbury Catholic.”

To become a fan of the Sudbury Catholic Facebook page, visit the Board’s website at www.sudburycatholicschools.ca and click on “Like” under the Facebook logo. Alternatively, search for Sudbury Catholic Schools on Facebook.
