Program Description

Technology in the classrooms

We believe that all children and youth need to be technology literate, whether they’re 3 or 33. Each classroom offers a wide variety of technologies including laptops, iPads, Chromebooks, and robotics.

iPads and Chromebooks offer a more diverse method for delivering instruction and engaging young students for learning in the 21st century. Kindergarten students to grade 3, have access to iPads. All our grade 4 to 6 students have access to Chromebooks. Elementary schools across our school board have Robotic kits which include Bee-Bots and Dash & Dot Robots to name a few.

The Learning Commons in secondary schools provide students with the latest in technology including Lego EV3 Mindstorm Robots, Lego Spike Robots, Sphere-O bots and Ozobots, Green screens, GoPro cameras, 3D printers and more. All grade 7 to 12 students have access to Chromebooks and laptops.

Assistive Technology

Access to Student Use Devices – Technology Carts

A variety of technology is used at Sudbury Catholic to assist students with special needs to allow them every opportunity for learning success. This includes iPads, Chromebooks, Laptops, FM Sound Systems, Smartboards, SMART tables, and a variety of specialized equipment. Assistive technology is used by individuals with exceptionalities to perform functions that might otherwise be difficult or impossible. Sudbury Catholic Schools acknowledges that technology can be used as a powerful tool to assist students with special needs.

Bring Your Own Device (B.Y.O.D.)

At all Sudbury Catholic Secondary Schools, wireless internet is available for all students who wish to bring their own technology devices to school – to assist with lessons, research, and planning. Students are encouraged to bring their devices daily to connect and better enhance and support their learning opportunities.
